My latest piece for Quartz looks at how the 8-bit wonder of Minecraft is not only a great place to spend a Friday night, but have potential to be a new educational platform for engineering. "Could Minecraft Be the Next Great Engineering School?" looks at how add-ons to the game that allow complex machine construction, combined with a free-flowing, unconstrained building environment and a peer-learning culture could make the game—or something like it— an important on-ramp for the next generation's civil and computing engineers—a next-gen MOOC.

There's a wealth of links in the piece, and some astounding video clips of massive constructions, and a guest cameo by @debcha.
